First Look: Rebel (Baffert v. Cox) leads weekend graded stakes
It will be a relatively quiet weekend on the 2021 Kentucky Derby trail, with only one points prep — the Grade 2 Rebel — on the calendar. But then the stakes climb considerably, with the next eight preps offering 100 points to the winner.
The Rebel is expected to pit one of Brad Cox's Derby contenders, Caddo River, against one of Bob Baffert's hopefuls, Concert Tour, and it would be the 2021 debut for Keepmeinmind.

There are no Kentucky Oaks points preps scheduled for this weekend. Here's an early look at the fields for the Rebel and the weekend's other graded stakes, all on Saturday.
Rebel Stakes (G2), Oaklawn, 1 1/16 miles, 3-year-olds
Keepmeinmind has finished in the money in each of his four races and broke his maiden in the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) last out in November for Robertino Diodoro. Three of his four races were Derby points preps, giving him 18 points without having raced this year.
Caddo River has had four races on four tracks for Brad Cox, breaking his maiden on third try at Churchill Downs in November and then winning the Smarty Jones in January. Concert Tour, meanwhile, is 2-for2, with a score in the San Vicente (G2) last out. The top four finishers here will earn 50-20-10-5 Kentucky Derby qualifying points.

Beholder Mile (G1), Santa Anita, 1 mile, fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
This might be the 2021 debut for Swiss Skydiver, last year's champion 3-year-old filly. She also was entered in the Azeri (G2), but Oaklawn's racing office did not list her as probable there. This would be the first start of the year for Simon Callaghan's Harvest Moon, who finished fourth in the Breeders' Cup Distaff last year after wins in the Torrey Pines (G3) and Zenyatta (G2).
Sanenus has finished in the money in each of her four U.S. starts, starting in August and most recently with a score in the La Cañada (G3) for Michael McCarthy.

Azeri (G2), Oaklawn, 1 1/16 miles, fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Brad Cox could have two here: Kentucky Oaks winner Shedaresthedevil, who hasn't raced finishing third in the Spinster (G1) in October, and Getridofwhatailesu, who has finished first or second in all but one of her seven starts and would make her first graded stakes bid here. Letruska has won three of her last four, all graded stakes. Envoutante has won two straight graded stakes for Kenny McPeek and would make her 2021 debut here.

San Simeon (G3) Santa Anita, 6 furlongs (turf), 4-year-olds and up
Since winning this race last year, Cistron had only one start: a fifth-place finish in the Daytona (G3) in May. Jolie Olimpica has finished first or second in each of his eight starts. Bob and Jackie has been on the board in his last four starts without a score.

Hurricane Bertie (G3), Oaklawn, 6 1/2 furlongs, fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
After an 11th-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Sprint broke a four-race win streak for Frank's Rockette, she came back to win the American Beauty in January for Bill Mott. Cory Gal would make her first graded-stakes start here after 28 races. She won three of four allowance races before finishing second last out.
