First Look: Goodnight Olive returns + Haskell preview day
Goodnight Olive can redeem herself at Belmont Park Saturday after her frustrating loss on Kentucky Derby day broke her seven-race win streak.
Monmouth Park has three graded stakes on tap for its Haskell preview day, and Santa Anita has the only graded stakes on the Sunday calendar.
Here’s an early look at the likely fields.
Saturday
Bed o’ Roses Invitational (G2), Belmont Park, 7 furlongs, fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Goodnight Olive, the likely favorite, looks to bounce back after finishing third in the Derby City Distaff (G1). Wicked Halo, second in the Distaff, also is expected here. Beguine’s 9 3/4-length win in a Belmont Park allowance May 20 was her first start of the year. Caramel Swirl and Dr. B finished 1-2 last out in the Vagrancy (G3).

Salvator Mile (G3), Monmouth Park, 1 mile, 3-year-olds and up
Bourbonic is 1-for-12 since winning last year’s Wood Memorial (G3), with the lone win coming in a February optional-claiming allowance at Aqueduct. This would be the first stakes for Petulante, who is 2-for-2 this year with an overall record of 5: 3-2-0. Ridin With Biden would make his first start since finishing 12th in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1). He won three of his prior four starts heading into that race.
