A winner of three straight races to cap her 2-year-old season, Finite will look to reassert herself in the new year as the one to beat next Saturday in Fair Grounds’ $150,000 Silverbulletday Stakes.

The first of three local points preps for the 2020 Kentucky Oaks, the 1-mile, 70-yard Silverbulletday precedes the Rachel Alexandra (G2) and Fair Grounds Oaks (G2).

Finite, trained by Steve Asmussen in partnership for Winchell Thoroughbreds, broke her maiden on the Kentucky Downs turf, scored in Churchill Downs’ Rags to Riches and doubled down under the Twin Spires most recently in the Golden Rod Stakes (G2).

The daughter of Munnings, who was second in a pair of earlier starts at Saratoga, excelled with experience.

“The credit goes to Steve and his team because they have been working hard with this filly to get her to relax in the morning,” jockey Ricardo Santana Jr. said after the Golden Rod.

That victory earned Finite 10 points toward Oaks qualification. She’ll run for just as many in the Silverbulletday, which pays out on a 10-4-2-1 basis to its Top 4 finishers.

Chief among Finite’s rivals is Portrait, a Brad Cox trainee sidelined after finishing third as the favorite last September in Churchill’s Pocahontas Stakes (G2). The LNJ Foxwoods charge had broken her maiden at Ellis Park and has breezed consistently for this spot since early December.

Six others were entered, including stakes-placed fillies His Glory and Ursula.

The Silverbulletday goes as Race 12 on the card with post time 6:23 p.m. ET. The field with post positions, jockeys and trainers:

1. Tempers Rising (Julien Leparoux/Dallas Stewart)

2. Pass the Plate (Shaun Bridgmohan/Paul McGee)
