How much is left to determine during the 2018 Kentucky Derby prep season? Consider that the top two choices as betting closed Sunday in Pool 2 of the Future Wager still haven't even made their 3-year-old debuts.

Good Magic and Bolt d'Oro, both 8-1, took the most money among individual interests between noon Friday and 6 p.m. Sunday, with recent Grade 3 Sham Stakes winner McKinzie and last weekend's Grade 2 Holy Bull winner Audible the other favorites at 9-1.

Flameaway, winner of the weekend's lone points-paying Derby prep, Tampa Bay Downs' Grade 3 Sam F. Davis, was not offered during Pool 2.

As usual with still nearly three months until the first Saturday in May, the "All Others" category encompassing any sophomores not available for wagering ended up with the shortest price at 5-2.

Interest in Pool 2 was up sharply over last year, with handle for win and exacta wagers totaling $521,650, up 58 percent of last year's $330,043.

Pool 1 for the 2018 Derby ran from
Nov. 23-26. The next Future Wager, Pool 3, is set for March 9-11, with the fourth and final pool from April 6-8. The lone Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool will coincide with KDFW Pool 3.
