Waterville Lake Stable’s Final Escrow pushed past pacesetter Will to Shine in the late stages to capture the $44,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Friday by a length and a quarter.

Trained by Arnaud Delacour, Final Escrow paid $12.60, $6 and $4.40 in the field of nine fillies and mares.  Will to Shine completed the $91.20 exacta and returned $7.20 to place and $5 to show.  It was another half-length back to Life’s Candy, who rallied to pay $7.60 to show.

“The horse on the lead just opened up,” said Elvis Trujillo.  “He was coming back to us in the lane and my horse was running on pretty good.  Obviously, it all worked out.”

A 4-year-old by Bernardini from the El Gran Senor mare Escrow Agent, Final Escrow has won three of her 11 starts.
