Ferlax Shines After All Too Hard's Defection

Ferlax had been unbeaten in three starts but the Guineas - with All Too Hard a long odds-on favourite - was a quantum leap from wins at Echuca, Benalla and Sale.

All Too Hard's race morning scratching boosted Conlan's confidence but it was Tuesday's gallop that first raised his hopes.

"It was a great gallop. Afterwards we thought 'geez we might as well have a crack at it," Conlan said.

A firmer into $15 after All Too Hard came out, Ferlax settled third the fence before dashing through at the 300m, holding off luckless filly You're So Good.
