Feld, Holmes launch Foal Adventure fan engagement initiative

A pair of industry veterans have teamed to form Foal Adventures, an initiative to give Thoroughbred racing fans the opportunity to interact with the breeding part of the industry.

Sean Feld and Iain Holmes, horse breeders and owners, launched the project with a pair of broodmares, Magic Happens and Lulu's Partner. The project is modeled after the racing clubs that have formed at tracks across the U.S. in that members do not have an equity interest in the group's holdings but do get exclusive access to the broodmares and the opportunity to reinvest in additional opportunities as well as fund after-care initiatives.

Feld likened it to OnlyFans, a website where content creators can sell specialized content directly to consumers, but for bloodstock.

"When Iain pitched the idea to me, I could not say 'yes' quick enough," he said in a news release. "With foal crops shrinking at an alarming rate, we can't just focus on introducing fans to racing; we need to introduce them to breeding too."

The end goal for the pair, though, is not getting people involved in Foal Adventure but to see them get involved with owning their own horses.

"With the regional awards, a strong market, and the cost of keeping a broodmare and raising a foal considerably lower than having a horse in training, we are confident some of our members will go out on their own and help grow the industry," he said in the release.

Foal Adventure members will receive regular updates such as photos, a newsletter and access to a webinar as well as the opportunity to visit their foals.
