Feels Like Rain sprinted to the early lead and never looked back while notching a 3-¼ -length victory Friday in the $11,100 Tacoma Rainiers Purse for 3-year-old fillies at Emerald Downs.
With apprentice sensation Pedro Terrero riding at 112 lbs., Feels Like Rain ran one mile in 1:37 4/5 on a wet-fast track and paid $7, $3.20 and $2.60. A triple winner in 2009 as a 2-year-old, Feels Like Rain won for the first time in three starts this year for trainer Doris Harwood and owner Jeff Harwood.
Breaking from the No. 1 post-position, Feels Like Rain led through fractions of :23 2/5, :47 3/5 and 1:12 2/5. She spurted away on the last turn, led by two lengths into the stretch, and held off Wild Gypsie in the final furlong.
