Fasig-Tipton has canceled its 2020 Santa Anita 2-year-olds in training sale because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The auction had been scheduled for June 3 in Arcadia, Calif.

"Factors beyond our control have necessitated the sale's cancellation,"  Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning said in a news release. "We greatly appreciate the support we received from those that had already committed entries, as well as the efforts and cooperation of Santa Anita's management and staff these past several months. With so much uncertainty, we felt it was best to go ahead and announce the sale's cancellation to provide sellers with ample time to redirect their horses to other venues."

Browning said Fasig-Tipton still plans to hold its California fall yearlings sale on Oct. 19 at Fairplex in Pomona.

Entries for that sale are now open.

Earlier Monday,
Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. said it had drawn 1,231 juveniles for its 2020 spring sale of 2-year-olds in training.

The sale is scheduled for June 9-12. It was originally set for April, but was rescheduled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
