Faisca Wins Fairplex Feature

Faisca recovered from a recent, minor ailment to overpower six rivals with a five-length victory in the $50,000 Phil D. Shepherd Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Fairplex Park on Friday.

"She had mucous in her throat last time she ran," trainer Caesar Dominguez said. "That's why she stopped. We cleared it all up and you saw her today."

Faisca, ridden by Alonso Quinonez for owners Mr. and Mrs. Peter A. Walks, paid $15.20 and covered seven furlongs under 118 pounds in 1:25.53. The California-bred daughter of A.P. Warrior earned $28,000.
