Fairplex Park prepares for closing weekend

Racing secretary Tom Knust has saved the best for
last as Fairplex Park brings down the curtain on its 13-day horse
racing meeting this weekend.
On Saturday, Knust offers a stakes doubleheader with the 57th
running of the $50,000 Pomona Derby, followed two races later by the
55th edition of the $50,000 Las Madrinas Handicap for fillies and mares,
3-year-olds & up.
Both races are 1 1/16 miles.
The meet ends Sunday with the 33rd running of the $75,000 Ralph M. Hinds Pomona Invitational Handicap, the signature race of the meet to be contested at 1 1/8 miles.
