Richard, Bertram and Elaine Klein’s Miz Ida, never far back, responded to a ground-saving ride from jockey Shaun Bridgmohan to take command in upper stretch and then gamely answered a late challenge from Pin Oak Stable’s favored Cloud Scapes to win Wednesday’s featured grass test for juvenile fillies by a half-length.

Contested at about one mile over the Stall-Wilson turf course, Miz Ida, trained by Steve Margolis, paid $7.40, $3.20 and $2.60, toured the distance over going listed as firm in 1:40.61 and increased her earnings to $58,549 with her second victory in four lifetime starts.

Cloud Scapes, always well placed, could not match the surge of the winner in upper stretch but was gaining again in the late stages to finish 1 1/4-lengths in front of Hinkle Farm’s Firehouse Red.

Cloud Scapes paid $3.80 and $2.40 to place while Firehouse Red returned $2.60 in the show spot. Gus King’s Burning Rage made the pace with early fractions of 25.43 and 49.92 before weakening to fourth.
