Evolution Rocks Looking for Luck Against Ribo Bobo
Trainer Jorge Navarro seeks another stakes victory for Evolution Rocks in Sunday’s feature, the $75,000 Mr. Prospector Stakes. Owner Jennifer Harries claimed Evolution Rocks a little over a year ago on June 16 for $6,000, and transferred the horse to the Navarro barn. Since the switch, Evolution Rocks has hit the board in each of his 10 starts, including five victories, good for $158,329 of his $197,560 in lifetime earnings.
In his last two outings Evolution Rocks showed strong finishes, including a close second in the Penn Dash Stakes at Penn National on May 31, and a third place finish at Tampa in the race before on April 5. Evolution Rocks will make his first start in Oceanport since returning to his home stall on Monmouth’s backstretch in May.
“He loves the track here,” said Navarro. “The last couple races we just ran out of luck. Last race at Parx he went to his knees, so we’re looking for a bit of luck here.”
A 5-year-old gelding by City Zip out of The Final Toy, Evolution Rocks may need more than luck in this six furlong stakes contest along Monmouth’s dirt course as he faces stiff competition in multiple stakes winner Ribo Bobo, the 9-5 morning line favorite. Ribo Bobo will break from the rail in the Mr. Prospector, as Evolution Rocks starts from post three.
