Estrange is scratched from the Arc, leaving field of 17

Estrange has been ruled out of Sunday's Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp after developing a cough.

Estrange had been in the final entries declared Thursday morning but sincehas been listed as a non-runner on the entries posted at France Galop. Her defection previously was reported by Matt Rennie of Racing Post. Rennie reported that trainer David O'Meara noticed Estrange did not train as well as usual on Thursday, came back with a cough and scoped dirty.

A 4-year-old daughter of Night of Thunder, she won a pair of group-level stakes at Haydock to begin her year and was most recently second behind Arc favorite Minnie Hauk in the Yorkshire Oaks (G1) at York on Aug. 21. She had drawn the far outside post in the field of 18 in the Arc.

Estrange holds an entry in the British Champions Fillies & Mares (G1) at Ascot on Oct. 18. She is an 8-1 best price in British markets for that race.
