Charlatan, Essential Quality, Monomoy Girl lead Sunday workout tab
Brad Cox brought his new champions to the work tab on Sunday, with Monomoy Girl working ahead of an expected start in Sunday's Bayakoa and Eclipse winner Essential Quality working ahead of the Southwest.
Additionally at Santa Anita, Charlatan had his most important work in preparation for the $20 million Saudi Cup, a stiff seven-furlong drill in 1:24.6.

Maxfield (Street Sense) a Grade 1 winner (2019 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity) worked 5 furlongs in 1:01.2 at Fair Grounds on Sunday morning. It was the 11th fastest of 51 works at the distance. His previous work was 7 days ago going 5 furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he won the Tenacious going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on Dec. 19 for trainer Brendan Walsh. He is expected to start in the Mineshaft Saturday at Fair Grounds.
