Gene Kershner, known to horse racing fans as the author of Equispace, a blog about horse racing, took down the iPad giveaway on Kentucky Derby weekend at Horse Racing Nation.

The contest required contestants to pick the winner of the Kentucky Derby, plus the official winning margin. Kershner was the only correct contestant to select both Super Saver and the final winning margin.

"I was checking out some of the horse profiles at HorseRacingNation.com and the iPad contest caught my eye as something cool to participate in,” said Kershner. “I was confident with my horse selection as I liked Super Saver's pedigree (Maria's Mon) and wet stats.  I looked at the last couple winning Derby margins over the past few years and saw most weren't very close.  I had a feeling Ice Box would be closing late, so I went with 2 1/2 lengths as a completely unscientific guess!"

Horse Racing Nation provides wiki-based data on horse racing including pedigrees, replays, silks, past performances and Plays of the Day. The system also allows for community interaction and discussion on anything in the database.

With the Preakness coming-up this weekend, Horse Racing Nation has released its official morning line odds for the race. Super Saver is the 5-2 morning line favorite.
