English Group I Winner Makfi Retired

Makfi, this season's Stanjames.com Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) winner and a conqueror of star filly Goldikova, has been retired from racing. He will enter stud in 2011 at David Redvers’ Tweenhills Stud near Hartpury, England. His fee is 25,000 pounds (about $39,500).
Makfi last raced in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Eng-I) Sept. 25, finishing fifth. He was retired with four wins from six starts and earnings of $867,460.
“His owners wanted to see him race again, but he has been on the go nonstop for more than a year, and it’s been a long season competing in top-class races,” Redvers said. “He had his first race this year in April before he won the Guineas.
