English Channel filly tops 12th session

The Keeneland September yearling sale recorded its first six-figure horse in two days as an English Channel filly topped trading on Friday.

The sale’s 12th session experienced increases in every statistic, compared with last year’s figures. Friday’s session featured 278 of 363 horses sold for $3,155,000, a 21.9% increase from last year when 235 yearlings brought total sales of $2,587,200. Median swelled 45.5% to $8,000 while average climbed 3.1% to $11,349.

The buy-back rate slipped to 23.4%, an improvement compared with 27.5% during last year’s 12th session.
