Due to anticipated inclement weather, Emerald Downs has cancelled its seven-race program Friday, Aug. 15.

"Forecasters predict heavy rain Friday, and safety comes first," said track president Phil Ziegler. "Fortunately, Saturday and Sunday look great with temperatures in the 70s."

Sunday's card features six stakes races including the 90th edition of the $125,000 Longacres Mile. Saturday's program highlights two quarter horse stakes and the annual Washington Racing Hall of Fame ceremony.

To make up for Friday's cancellation, Emerald Downs will add extra races Friday, Aug. 22 and Saturday, Aug. 23.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy rain will fall throughout King County Friday, with 0.5-1 inch in the lowlands and up to 4 inches in the mountains."
