Extraordinarily shy and non-fluent in English, jockey Inoel Beato is letting his riding ability speak loud and clear this season at Emerald Downs.
The 24-year-old native of the Dominican Republic is off to a fast start with a 6-7-6 record in 33 mounts to start the meet. The six wins are good for a second-place tie with Juan Gutierrez and only one back of leader Gallyn Mitchell.
“The races have been going very well for me,” Beato said. “I really like (Emerald Downs). It's a very nice track.”
