Egg Drop was successful in her turf debut, winning the $57,842 feature Friday at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Switching surfaces and cutting back in distance after a subpar performance in the restricted Santa Lucia Stakes April 14 at Santa Anita, the gray daughter of Alphabet Soup prevailed by three-quarters of a length after a pace pressing trip under jockey Martin Garcia.

Moved to the outside of early leader Nihilist down the backstretch, Egg Drop gained the advantage early in the stretch, then withstood a challenge from the inside by 5-2 favorite Hidinginplainsight inside the final sixteenth of a mile.

Owned by Little Red Feather Racing and trained by Mike Mitchell, Egg Drop ran the six furlongs in 1:09.29 for her third win in eight starts. She has earned $134,020.

Out of the Adhocracy mare Rehocracy, Egg Drop, who was the 6-1 sixth choice in the field of seven 4-year-old fillies, paid $14.80, $7 and $4.80.

Hidinginplainsight, who finished 2 ¼ lengths clear of Conkate, paid $4.20 and $3.20 while the show price on Conkate was $4.40.

Completing the order of finish were 5-2 second choice Creditcardroulette, Best Present Ever, Sydney’s Darling and Nihilist.

Jockey Garrett Gomez was off his final four mounts Friday after being involved in a spill in the first race.

Gomez was unseated after Randino, a debuting 2-year-old son of Discreet Cat, ducked into the rail while leading inside the final eighth of a mile. Gomez was taken to nearby Centinela Hospital Medical Center where he was evaluated and later released. Randino, the 4-5 favorite, had to be euthanized.
