The Eclipse Awards Charity Poker tournament, held Wednesday evening at Gulfstream Park, raised more than $8,500 for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF).

Jockey Joe Bravo cashed $2,168 as part of a six-way chop. The yearly event hosted over 116 entrants and featured some of horse racing’s most prominent active and retired jockeys.

The charity poker tournament is just one of several events being held this weekend at Gulfstream Park in conjunction with the 44th annual Eclipse Awards, which will be held Saturday evening at Gulfstream's Sport of Kings Theater. Other charities being recognized this weekend include Old Friends and Gulfstream's Thoroughbred Aftercare Program.

PDJF board member and jockey John Velazquez said: "These events always mean a lot to us. We don't have a guaranteed fund so it's important to raise awareness and contributions."

The PDJF is now supporting 61 permanently disabled riders.
