Early Look: Possible fields for 8 remaining Kentucky Derby preps

Six weeks to go until Kentucky Derby 2026, and eight points preps will remain on the calendar after this weekend's Grade 2 Louisiana Derby and Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3).

Six of those preps are on the primary road to the Kentucky Derby, with one remaining for the Euro-Mideast route and one on the Japan trail.

The possible fields listed below were provided by Churchill Downs, where the Kentucky Derby will be run on May 2, except for the Grade 2 UAE Derby, where probables were released Wednesday.

March 28

Fukuryu Stakes, Nakayama, 1 1/8 miles

This race offers 40-20-12-8-4 qualifying points for the Japan road to the Kentucky Derby. The top horse on the Japan leaderboard is Lucky Kid with 30, followed by Pyromancer and Don Erectus with 20 each, though the later hasn't been nominated for the Triple Crown. One horse from the Japan road will be invited to the Kentucky Derby.

UAE Derby (G2), Meydan, 1 3/16 miles

The UAE Derby offers 100-60-30-15-10 qualifying points on the Euro-Mideast road to the Kentucky Derby. Al Haram leads the standings with 30 points but hasn't been nominated to the Triple Crown. Six Speed, Brotherly Love, Hidden Force and Blanc de Blanc are next with 20 points each, but Six Speed is the only one of those who has been nominated. Two Kentucky Derby invitations will be offered to horses on the Euro-Mideast road.

Florida Derby (G1), Gulfstream Park, 1 1/8 miles, 100-50-25-15-10 Kentucky Derby points

The Puma, with 56 points and Commandment, with 50, already have clinched Kentucky Derby slots.

Arkansas Derby (G1), Oaklawn, 1 1/8 miles, 100-50-25-15-10 Kentucky Derby points

Silent Tactic has qualified for the Derby with 50 points, and Litmus Test is next highest on the leaderboard with 34 points.

April 4

Blue Grass (G1), Keeneland, 1 1/8 miles, 100-50-25-15-10 Kentucky Derby points

Paladin is at the top of the Derby leaderboard with 60 points. The Puma has clinched with 56 points, as have Commandment and Class President with 50 each.

Santa Anita Derby (G1), Santa Anita, 1 1/8 miles, 100-50-25-15-10 Kentucky Derby points

Potente has clinched with 50 points. Robusta has the next most points, with 25, Intrepido has 23 and Pavlovian has 20.

Wood Memorial (G2), Aqueduct, 1 1/8 miles, 100-50-25-15-10 Kentucky Derby points

Iron Honor and Class President clinched with 50 points each. Talk to Me Jimmy, Bravaro and Express Kid are next with 20 each.

April 11

Lexington (G3), Keeneland, 1 1/16 miles, 20-10-6-4-2 Kentucky Derby points

Canaletto earned 15 points with his third-place finish in the Tampa Bay Derby (G3).
