Dublin Girl adds stakes victory to her resume in Maddie May

Nearly four weeks to the day after breaking her maiden, Joemar Racing Stable's homebred Dublin Girl added a stakes victory to her resume with a one-length score in the second running of the $100,000 Maddie May for 3-year-old New York-bred fillies, Sunday's featured race at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Under jockey Kendrick Carmouche, Dublin Girl settled off the rail in third as Treatherlikestar led the six-horse field through an opening quarter-mile in 24.89 seconds and the half in 50.71 with Bliss to You looming to her outside.

Dublin Girl, trained by Dominick Schettino, was positioned just behind Treatherlikestar and Bliss to You as the field reached the top of the stretch. Carmouche patiently angled the Dublin filly into the two path as the leaders began to fade, eventually finding enough room between her rivals to slip through near the eighth pole and draw off to a comfortable win.

The final time the mile-and-70-yard route was 1:46.46. Sent off as the 5-2 co-favorite, Dublin Girl returned $7.60 for a $2 win wager.

"I was just sitting patient hoping something would open up," said Carmouche, who is 2-for-2 with Dublin Girl following her maiden-breaking victory on January 2. "I was dedicated to the spot.

"I think the two turns helped her today and moved her forward," he continued. "She handled the step up in class. It was a team effort."
