Paul M. Steckel’s Dreamsgonewild held off the late charges of Didn’t Take It and Bye Bye Bernie to capture the $37,800 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Friday afternoon by a neck.

With Trevor McCarthy in the irons, Dreamsgonewild set pressured fractions of :20 3/5 for the first quarter of a mile and :42 4/5 for the half.  The Bruce Alexander trainee reported home in :54 4/5, just one tick off the track record, for the five furlongs over firm turf.

The winner returned $12.60, $5.40 and $3.  Didn’t Take It completed the $51.40 exacta and paid $4.20 and $2.40.  It was another nose back to post-time favorite Bye Bye Bernie, who paid $2.40 to show.

A 5-year-old gelding by Freud from the Strolling Along mare Twin Stroller, Dreamsgonewild sports a record of 5-4-3 from 20 career starts.
