Dream Team completed a Sunday double for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Rafael Bejarano with a decisive victory in the $48,691 feature on closing day of the Spring Thoroughbred meet at Los Alamitos.
Stretching out one month after finishing fifth of seven in a Santa Anita sprint, Dream Team tracked the pace set by Day in the Sun for most of the journey, then took over into the stretch and won by 3 ¼ lengths.
Owned by Baffert’s wife Jill and David and Lindy Israel, the 4-year-old son of Tapit and the Beau Genius mare Pretty ‘n Smart won for the second time in seven starts and increased his earnings to $78,860.
The 7-2 third choice in the field of eight, Dream Team returned $9.80, $4.20 and $3 while completing the 1 1/16 miles in 1:41.23.
Dreaming of Gold, the 2-1 second choice, finished 5 ¼ lengths clear of 2-1 favorite Noble Kent and paid $3.60 and $2.60. The show price on Noble Kent was $2.60.
Baffert and Bejarano won earlier with favored Fantasy of Luck, who broke her maiden easily for owners Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman.
Trainer Ron Ellis and jockey Brice Blanc also had two wins Sunday, going back-to-back with Quinnette in the sixth race and Coyote Fly in the seventh.
Although he had to settle for second with Dreaming of Gold, Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux was the leading rider for the 12-day meet.
The 46-year-old Louisiana native finished with 10 victories, two more than Edwin Maldonado.

Doug O’Neill and Mark Glatt shared the training title. Both won six races.
