Details set for Kentucky Derby 2018 post position draw

Horse players, rejoice.

Churchill Downs has moved up draws for this year's 2018 Kentucky Derby and Oaks, allowing an extra day to handicap both major upcoming races for the 3-year-olds.

The field will be set at 11 a.m. ET Monday for Friday's 1 1/8-mile 2018 Kentucky Oaks, with Grade 1 Ashland Stakes winner Monomoy Girl the anticipated morning line favorite.

Sequence of events:


11:03-11:06 a.m.
 – Introduction
11:06-11:09 a.m. – Pill pull for 1-7
11:09-11:11 a.m. – Brief interlude
11:11-11:14 a.m. – Pill pull for 8-14
11:14-11:16 a.m. – Brief interlude
11:16-11:19 a.m. – Morning Line Odds by Mike Battaglia
11:19-11:21 a.m. – Outro

Then on Tuesday, the Derby post position draw will begin at 11 a.m. ET with Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby winner Justify the favorite for Saturday's race.

11:06-11:12 a.m. – Pill pull for 1-10
11:12-11:14 a.m. – Brief interlude
11:14-11:21 a.m. – Pill pull for 11-20
11:21-11:23 a.m. – Brief interlude
11:23-11:26 a.m. – Morning Line Odds by Mike Battaglia
