Derby winner Rich Strike ranks 3rd in NTRA top 3-year-old poll

Week 11 of the 2022 NTRA top 3-year-old poll saw the arrival of Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike in the rankings.

In pulling the second-biggest upset in Kentucky Derby history on Saturday, Rich Strike soared to No. 3 in the poll behind Epicenter and Zandon, who finished second and third in the classic.

In the top thoroughbred poll that includes all divisions, Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Country Grammer remained on top for owner Amr Zedan and suspended trainer Bob Baffert.

The NTRA top 3-year-old poll and the NTRA top thoroughbred poll covers racing performances through May 8. Voting is conducted by national media.

The 3-year-old poll represents horses competing up and through the Triple Crown.

The top thoroughbred poll represents horses competing for Horse of the Year. The Top Thoroughbred Poll concludes on Tuesday, November 8 following the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.

Rankings on both polls are on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-1 basis with first place votes in parentheses, 2022 record and total points. A-S: Age-Sex, Sex: C-colt, G-gelding, H-horse, F-filly, M-mare, R-ridgling.
