It’s been a tough competition as the Derby Wars $10,000 March Bracket Challenge has already taken out 60 players, leaving just four players to compete in head-to-head battles to the Championship.

Meet them now!

Terry Wraight (Ocalarocket):
Hometown: Ontario, Canada.
Stats: Wraight is a tough player, having competed in many national tournaments, and started out the bracket as a four seed. He says he is excited about playing the Final Four, has really enjoyed the format and looks forward each weekend to the games. When asked which round was tough for him, Wraight says “All rounds are tough, there are many good players on Derby Wars. I feel fortunate to have come this far.” He was initially told about the Derby Wars by a friend, and was very interested in the money games that were offered as well as the head-to-head gaming options.  As far as basketball goes, Wraight doesn’t have any strong allegiances to NCAA basketball teams.  “Like most horseplayers,” Wraight says, “I like to root for the underdog, so will root for UConn and Kentucky.”

Brian Herrity (BrianH):
Hometown: Mankato, Minnesota
Stats: A tournament veteran, this horseplayer just took down the Derby Wars $50,000 Big Cap Game on March 8th. Being a two seed himself, his toughest game was during the Sweet Sixteen against three seed Maguru, where Herrity won by a small margin of $1.80. After his big win in March, can Herrity continue his winning streak and fight his way to the Championship round?

Jason Avila (Jguppy93):
Hometown: Long Beach, California
Stats: A relative newcomer to contests and has only been playing with us since February. This didn’t stop Avila from going up against some tough players, including one seed Ptscott, and winning! Avila is an insurance professional by day, avid handicapper by night. He was reading the racing form by the age of five, having been taught by his grandfather. He then moved on to the University of Arizona’s racetrack management program, and pursued a training career for a time. Of the bracket tournament, Avila says: “This is my first head to head contest play so I’m learning on the job. Making it this
far is an accomplishment but the top prize is within striking distance and
that’s what I’m focused on.” He says that he found Derby Wars to “be one
that gave me the most opportunities on a daily basis to practice in real
money games.” Since his Alma Mater Arizona has been taken out of the tournament, he’s currently rooting for the Kentucky Wildcats to take the title.

"Now that I've made it, I want to win it all!”

Charles Bryan (Muttdog88):
Hometown: Culvertown, KY.
Stats: When he’s not winning tournaments, Bryan spends his days working for a vinyl siding and gutter company. Bryan has been playing the horses since he was 19, when he and a couple of his buddies went to their home track Churchill Downs for the first time and he caught racing fever. Bryan says he was “Really excited about qualifying to play in this tournament, not really thinking that I would get to the Final Four. But now that I've made it, I want to win it all!” His closest win came against second round where both players had tough runs, and won with only $13.00 against BigDawg291’s $2.60. Bryan started playing Derby Wars after researching handicapping contests, about 3 years ago. Being a Kentucky native, it's obvious that the Wildcats are his choice to go all the way in the NCAA tournament this year. This weekend we’ll find out if both Bryan and his Cats can make it through to the final round.
