Derby Future Update from Lucky's Race & Sports Book - January 31

It seems like all the Kentucky Derby buzz is focused on Dialed In after his impressive win in the Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Sunday. The son of Mineshaft took heavy action after his impressive, trouble-filled debut at Churchill and subsequent high praise by Nick Zito. Dialed In is currently third choice in the Lucky’s future book.

Uncle Mo continues to be the strong favorite, receiving steady action now that he’s had his first breeze back as a sophomore for Todd Pletcher. Boys at Tosconova, once a strong second choice for the Derby, has seen his odds raised since he missed the Holy Bull due to unsatisfactory training. Tapizar continues to be a popular future bet since his win in the Sham at Santa Anita.

Soldat, impressive recent allowance winner in slop at Gulfstream, has taken plenty of recent betting action. He has plenty of graded earnings to make the starting gate based on his second-place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and has earned the top two-turn Beyer Speed Figure this  year among 3-year-olds (102).

Machen, 2-for-2 after a nice two-turn allowance win at Fair Grounds, is also hot. He’ll need to pick up graded earnings in his next start for Neil Howard, which is likely to come in the Risen Star on Feb. 12.
