Delta Jackpot field coming together

Delta Downs' richest and most important race of the year, the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot, will take place this Saturday and many of the connections that will take part in the Grade 3 event for two-year-olds are making final travel arrangements to get to Vinton, Louisiana, for the 1 1/16-mile showdown.

Eleven horses are expected to pass through the entry box on Wednesday, but only 10 will be allowed to start. Listed below is the latest information from Delta Downs' racing office regarding the contenders.

Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity winner Drill is scheduled to fly from Southern California to Shreveport, Louisiana, on Wednesday morning along with Basmati and Longview Drive, who are also expected to start in the Delta Jackpot. The Bob Baffert trainee and his traveling companions will then van from Shreveport to Vinton, which should take approximately 3 1/2 hours.

Runner-up in the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes two starts back, Drill will be looking to rebound from a disappointing 10th in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. The Lawyer Ron colt owns a career line of 5-2-1-0.
