Delta Girl Makes Auspicious Debut at Gulfstream

Delta Girl, a 3-year-old daughter of Majestic Warrior, made an auspicious debut in Thursday's sixth race at Gulfstream Park, scoring an authoritative triumph by 8 1/4 lengths under a hand ride.

"That was breathtaking," jockey Tyler Gaffalione said. "She did it so easy."

Trained by Ralph Nicks, the Kinsman Stable's homebred filly broke cleanly from her rail post position and settled in second along the backstretch, several lengths behind Arty'sbourbangirl, who set solid fractions of 22.04 seconds and 44.96 for the first half mile of the six-furlong maiden special weight event.  The long-striding Delta Girl closed the gap on the turn and drew away through the stretch without much urging from her rider.

"We were a little worried about the 1-hole, but Ralph always has them ready," Gaffalione said."She broke sharp and I just sat there. It seemed like the horse in front was going pretty quick, so I waited for her to come back to me, and she just swallowed her up. She was just galloping."

Delta Girl ($6.40) ran six furlongs in 1:10.44.

Friday's Rainbow 6 Carryover Jackpot Stands at $203,990

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 15th consecutive racing day Thursday at Gulfstream Park, producing a $203,990.66 carryover jackpot pool for Friday's program.

Multiple tickets with all six winners Thursday were each worth $14,514.18

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The Rainbow 6 Jackpot was last cracked on July 16 for a $164,483 payoff.

There will be a $2,972.89 carryover for Friday's Super Hi-5.
