Delgadillo, Atticus Jack Steal Hinds

Quindici Man's trainer, Craig Lewis, had worried all week that there was no speed in the $75,000 Ralph M. Hinds Pomona Invitational Handicap, which didn't bode well for his late-running 5-year-old.

Atticus Jack, with Agapito Delgadillo aboard, went right to the front in the "about" 1 1/8-mile race on closing day at Fairplex Park and set dawdling fractions of 48.99 for the half-mile and 1:13.21 for six furlongs.

The leisurely pace allowed Atticus Jack to open a two-length advantage into the stretch en route to a three-quarter length victory over Norvsky, with El Gato Malo another 1 1/2 lengths back in third.
