Delaware Park canceled its racing card after the fourth race Thursday because of weather conditions.

A thunderstorm was in the Wilmington, Del., area Thursday afternoon, and the National Weather Service predicted a chance of storms through the night. Heavy rain is forecast for Friday, according to the NWS website, then clear weather is expected through the weekend.

The co-features for Thursday were a pair of races with purses of $38,500. These were race 6, an allowance for 3-year-old fillies at six furlongs, and race 7. an optional-claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up at five furlongs on the turf.

The track's 2023 meet began May 24 and runs through Nov. 4. Races generally are held on a Wednesday-to Saturday schedule.
