Acting upon the recommendation of the Chief Commission Veterinarian of the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission, Delaware Park has cancelled the live racing card scheduled for Monday due to the excessive heat forecasted for the region.

The National Weather Service has predicted temperatures in the high 90s with a heat index of value approaching 110. Delaware Park generally hosts live racing on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Additionally, it has also been racing on Thursdays since July 16 and plans to continue to do so through October 1.

Racing is scheduled to return on Wednesday, with a start time of 1:15 p.m. Delaware’s next race day to include stakes racing is scheduled for September 26.
