Delaware Handicap fair odds: Idiomatic possesses all the tools

No. 3 Idiomatic checks all the boxes of a formidable favorite for the $500,000 Delaware Handicap on Saturday at Delaware Park.

Juddmonte Farm's homebred Curlin filly has the pedigree for the 1 3/16 miles, is likely lone speed against five rivals, and has Florent Geroux shipping into a spot despite the journeyman rider likely having other options with big stakes days at both Belmont Park and Horseshoe Indianapolis.

This is no secret, of course. Idiomatic is 7-5 on the morning line and very well could be odds on given everything above. I would not bet her to win at anything less than even money, but feel there could be some opportunity with No. 5 Classy Edition, who is the third choice on the morning line but the second choice on my fair odds line.

Classy Edition should sit right off our top pick, and it's possible they go 1-2 all the way around. That scenario makes it tough for me to like No. 6 Morning Matcha as the second choice on the morning line. Of course she could win, but of the projected top three wagering choices, I think she will offer the worst value wagering wise.

Both No. 1 Royal Take Charge and No. 2 Battle Bling are single-digit odds on the morning line, but I would be willing to give the longer price of the two a look if there's a clear separation between 4th and 5th choices.
