Delaforce wins the 2012 Puss n Boots Cup by a nose

After a thrilling three horse photo finish to determined the winner of the 2012 Puss n Boots Cup it was announced that Delaforce, under jockey Martin Ramirez was the winner by the slimmest of margins over Flip for the Coin and Fiji Boy.

51 years ago the horse Puss n Boots veered in during the running of a turf race and ended up making a splash into one of the infield lakes. It has become a tradition for the winning connections of this particular event to do the same. For Trainer Daryl Ezra and rider Martin Ramirez it was their first time taking the plunge.

Delaforce returned $14.30 to win, $7.00 to place and $4.40 to show. The final running time for the mile and a sixteenth distance on the turf was 1:44.2.
