This Friday’s first post at Del Mar will shift from 7 p.m. EDT to 6 p.m. EDT and remain at that time on Fridays for the balance of the meet, which concludes on Sunday, Sept. 8.

The time shift is keyed on the setting of the sun in the San Diego area, which corrects by almost an hour over the course of the summer. Sunset on opening day, July 20. was at 10:55 p.m. EDT. Sunset on closing day will be 10:04 p.m. EDT.

Del Mar has four Grade 1 stakes on the calendar during the rest of the meet, the Del Mar Oaks on Saturday, the Pacific Classic on Aug. 31 and the Debutant and Futurity on Sept. 7.
