Segesta captured the Grade 1, $300,000 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar on Sunday, giving trainer Chad Brown his seventh victory in the last nine runnings of the race.

The Juddmonte homebred, a 4-year-old daughter of champion Ghostzapper, tracked the pace under Flavien Prat before accelerating in the stretch and drawing off to a 2 1/4-length victory. She completed the mile on turf in 1:35.60 and paid $5.40 as the favorite.

Brown has recorded 22 stakes victories during Del Mar's 12 fall meets. The win marked Prat's second in the Matriarch after he guided Brown-trained Regal Glory to victory in 2022. Juddmonte also won the 2020 edition with Viadera, trained by Brown.

In Our Time, owned by Resolute Racing or Miller Racing, finished second, 3/4 of a length ahead of Ag Bullet, owned by Nguyen and Tran.

Segesta earned $180,000 for the victory, pushing her career earnings to $1,190,275. She improved her record to 4-for-11, with all starts coming on turf.
