Defending Mabee Champ Wasted Tears Returns

Wasted Tears, who shipped in to score a nose victory in last year’s John C. Mabee, is back to defend her title against seven rivals in Sunday’s edition of the $250,000 Grade II, 1 1/8-mile turf race.
Wasted Tears, owned and trained by Bart B. Evans, has faced graded stakes company at four different tracks since the 2010 Mabee victory and was most recently fifth in last month’s Modesty Handicap at Arlington Park.
