Decisive Moment seeks first stakes win in Jean Lafitte

Florida-bred Decisive Moment may have only one victory in his five starts, but his willingness to stay competitive in his loses made him the heavy morning-line favorite for Friday’s $250,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes at Delta Downs in Louisiana.

Decisive Moment, a 3-year-old son of Hartley/De Renzo stallion With Distinction, finished a strong second behind fellow Florida-bred Gourmet Dinner in the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes (G3) in November. He also finished in the top three in the In Reality Stakes and the Dr. Fager Stakes at Calder last year.

He has earned more than $270,000 in his career and was installed as the 7-5 favorite for the 1-mile race.

The colt was bred by Just For Fun Stables and drew a $70,000 bid at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales April auction. The bid did not meet the reserve and the horse was sent to the track by his breeder.
