Decisive Moment Wins Jean Lafitte

After finishing second to Gourmet Dinner in the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot (gr. III), Decisive Moment returned to Louisiana to score a resounding victory in the $250,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes on Jan. 14.

Under jockey Kerwin Clark, Decisive Moment set the pace in the one-mile test for 3-year-olds before facing a two-prong challenge by Su Casa G Casa and Expecting Cash at the top of the homestretch.

After looking his rivals in the eye with less than a furlong to go, the Juan Arias trainee appeared to re-break and took off to win by 3 1/2 lengths going away. Su Casa G Casa finished second while Expecting Cash was another neck behind in third.

Decisive Moment covered the mile over a fast track in 1:38.91.
