Dead Heat in Fair Grounds Feature

Hoosier Daddy’s Stable’s Face the Fire and Thoroughbred Legends Racing Stable’s Premier Cru finished in a dead-heat for the win in Wednesday’s featured allowance optional $17,500 claiming event at Fair Grounds, contested at 1 1/16-miles as the fifth race of the day for a purse of $49,000.

 

Face the Fire, trained by Tim Glyshaw and ridden by Corey Lanerie, made the pace with splits of 24.63 and 48.75, was challenged by Premier Cru, trained by Ronny Werner and ridden by Brian Hernandez Jr., throughout the final furlong and finished on even terms with that one in 1:39.04 while a length to the good of Danny Caldwell’s Chef Eric.

 

Face the Fire paid $5.60, $4.60 and $3.40, Premier Cru returned $6.80, $5.60 and $4.80, and Chef Eric paid $4.20 to show.

 

Face the Fire increased his career earnings to $160,779 with his 12th win in 61 career starts, while Premier Cru now has $57,810 in lifetime earnings with his second win in eight starts.
