LLC’s Dancing Solo sat off the speed of Cheimon, before powering past that rival
and holding off all challengers to win the $100,000 Grade 3 Boiling Springs
Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday afternoon by a length and a half.
Trained by Todd Pletcher,
Dancing Solo covered the mile and a sixteenth over firm turf in 1:41.99 and paid
$5.60, $3.20 and $2.60 across the board.
Zultanite completed the $20.20 exacta and returned $4 to place and $2.60
to show. It was another half-length back
to post-time favorite Somali Lemonade, who paid $2.60 to show.
“The plan was to be a little
closer to the pace today since there wasn’t much speed in the race,” said
winning jockey Joe Bravo, after piloting his fourth winner on the card. “She settled exactly where I wanted to be and
in the stretch she was very powerful.”
Dancing Solo, a 3-year-old filly
by Giant’s Causeway from the Kingmambo mare Dancing Alone, captured the Little
Silver Stakes here on May 27, the Monmouth Park prep for the Boiling
Springs. The Kentucky-bred has now won
three of 10 starts, earning $163,105 in her career.
Earlier on the card, Bravo
booted home Rogue ($12) in the fourth race, Keep the Canoli ($6.60) in the
fifth and Not a Give ($5.40) in the 10th.
