Dakota Phone Surprises in Dirt Mile

Dakota Phone rallied strongly down the middle of the Churchill Downs main track to nip Morning Line in the 2010 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. The Southern California shipper was ridden to victory by Joel Rosario.

Jerry Hollendorfer chose the Dirt Mile over the Classic for Dakota Phone because he thought the pace would be swift. He was right on the money and the $77.40 win price has longshot players dancing in the streets.

It was another tough loss for Nick Zito. He has had many close calls in big races this year and he had to settle for runner-up honors once again with his talented 3-year-old Morning Line.

Gayego finished 3rd and Nick Zito trainee Cool Coal Man finished 4th.
