Divine Equine’s Dajohna broke in full stride to make all the pace and held on willingly to capture the $47,000 filly and mare allowance feature Friday evening at Fair Grounds by a length and a half during the first of four Starlight Racing programs at the New Orleans oval this season.

Ridden by Jamie Theriot and trained by Bret Calhoun, Dajohna accomplished the six-furlong distance in 1:11.93 after setting early fractions of 21.98 and 45.92. The daughter of Saarland returned mutuels of $19.60, $5.20 and $5.20 while increasing her career earnings to $48,200 with her third win in five lifetime starts.

Family Fun’s Lokomamma finished second, 1 3/4-lengths in front of Robert and Beverly Lewis Trust’s Exhilarating. Lokamamma paid $3.40 and $2.80, while Exhilarating returned $3.20 for the show spot.

Favored Sorority Rush, an appropriately-named hunch bet for the age dynamic Fair Grounds is attracting with its Starlight Racing series, finished fourth after weakening in the final furlong.
