James Miller’s Daisy Devine, winner of the 2011 Fair Grounds Oaks, is expected to head the field in the $75,000 Marie Krantz Memorial Handicap during Saturday’s Road to the Derby Kickoff Day Presented by Hotel Monteleone at Fair Grounds.

Daisy Devine, who won Fair Grounds’ $75,000 Blushing K.D. Handicap Dec. 22, breezed five furlongs Sunday in 1:02.20 in preparation for the Marie Krantz Memorial, one of five stakes slated for this weekend’s gala program.

Headed by the Grade III Lecomte Stakes as the first leg of a three-race series that concludes with the $1 million Louisiana Derby March 30, Saturday’s stakes also include the Grade III Col. E.R. Bradley Handicap over the Stall-Wilson Turf Course in advance of the Grade II Mervin Muniz Memorial on March 30, the $100,000 Louisiana Handicap in advance of the Grade II New Orleans Handicap on that last Saturday of Fair Grounds’ 2012-2013 season, as well as this Saturday’s $125,000 Silverbulletday Stakes as the first prep for the Grade II Fair Grounds Oaks on Louisiana Derby Day.
