Dadtaughtmewell goes gate-to-wire in Sunday's feature at Los Al

Dadtaughtmewell, who had failed to win in his first six starts of 2016, made it back-to-back scores with a gate-to-wire victory in the $27,690 feature Sunday at Los Alamitos.

A 4-year-old gelded son of Eddington and the Tabasco Cat mare Burrito, Dadtaughtmewell has picked up both of the wins since being claimed for $16,000 Oct. 15 by trainer Dean Pederson for Crown Racing Stables Ltd.

Ridden by Martin Garcia, the 7-2 third choice in the field of seven quickly established command, responded when challenge inside the final eighth of a mile by 2-1 favorite Deep Consideration and prevailed by a half-length.

In winning for the fifth time in 18 starts, Dadtaughtmewell paid $9.80, $4.40 and $2.80. He pushed his bankroll to $89,485.

Deep Consideration, who was making his first start since being claimed for $25,000 by Peter Eurton Oct. 22, returned $3.40 and $2.80 while finishing 1 ¼ lengths in front of 8-1 shot Freddies Dream. The show price on Freddies Dream.
