Homewrecker Racing and Avalon Farm's CUSTOM FOR CARLOS (More Than Ready) had
to dig deep for every ounce of class to prevail in Friday's $150,000 Count Fleet Sprint H. (G3) over a loose-on-the-lead Chief of Affairs (Yonaguska), and
the 3-5 favorite did just that under Mike Smith. Unhampered while setting
fractions of :22 and :45 1/5, Chief of Affairs opened up 2 1/2 lengths on the
field in midstretch and briefly looking home free. But the favorite, who tracked
in third along the inside early before moving outside for the stretch run, kept
grinding away at that margin and was able to get his neck in front at the wire.
Custom for Carlos returned $3.40, $2.80 and $2.20 after completing the six
fast-track furlongs at Oaklawn Park in 1:09.
