Current 2019 Preakness Stakes odds: Improbable the favorite

As expected, Improbable carried his Preakness Stakes favoritism into Saturday, appearing at 3-1 as betting opened and remaining there into the afternoon. But there were a few surprises on the tote board, too.

War of Will, his chief rival exiting the Kentucky Derby, continues to lack heavy support at 7-1. Instead, Bourbon War, last seen in the Florida Derby (G1), is the 9-2 second choice, and Alwaysmining, the Maryland-bred on a six-race winning streak, sits third on the board at 6-1.

Lexington Stakes (G3) winner Owendale is then 8-1, with all others priced in the double digits.

Pimlico Race Course's early look at the odds doesn't reflect the amount of money in the win pool, so it's difficult to say how much the prices might change before post time at 6:48 p.m. There could be some separating left to do considering Everfast (22-1) and Market King (25-1), the two longest shots on the board, are relatively low for a 13-horse field.
